Paying bonuses, incentives, rewards and appreciate them for their good performances are all things that can make your employees feel valued and happy.
When the manager is upset, employees start worrying about their job security as well as their futures.
If such things are unclear, it will lead to confusion, mis-interpretation and will lend to disagreements with management.
